**Job Description Play Leader**

**JOB TITLE**:Play Leader

**LINE MANAGER**:Play Coordinator **(SLT)**

**PURPOSE OF JOB**:To support and facilitate meaningful and productive child initiated play during the school day. To take responsibility for the safety and wellbeing of children while in the playground.

**JOB DUTIES**:

- **To support and facilitate the best possible play experiences for the children. This will include playing with the children as well as setting up a purposeful play environment daily.**:

- **To be aware of the needs and interests of children when engaging with them and be a good role model.**:

- **To create opportunities for play to support the social and behavioural development of pupils.**:

- **To ensure the safety of all pupils inside and outside of the school building**:

- **To make the necessary preparations for play e.g. setting up and maintaining resources/space, preparing play activities, appropriate for the age and abilities of the children.**:

- **To be aware of Child Protection procedures, to understand the necessary protocols and to communicate any concerns immediately to the Designated Safeguarding Leader.**:

- **To be aware of the school’s policies and procedures on Accidents, Behaviour, Play, Health and Safety, Inclusion and to incorporate these into everyday practice.**:

- **To provide the Play Coordinator with feedback or reports etc. as reasonably requested or as necessary and take part in termly review.**:

- **To attend all training and meetings as reasonably required for you to undertake your role, as agreed with the Headteacher**:

- **To be approachable and accessible to all pupils, ensuring that all interactions are professional and focus on the child’s needs.**:

- **To maintain confidentiality about home
- school / pupil
- teacher/ school work matters**:

- **To act as an ambassador for the school, celebrating its ethos and achievements**:

- **To complete any other task as reasonably directed by the Line Manager**

**Knowledge, experience and training**:
Essential:

- Prior experience of working with children in an educational or playwork setting is essential.
- Relevant qualifications or experience of working with children.
- Awareness of safeguarding responsibilities and processes.

Desirable:
Playwork Level 2 or above.

First aid qualifications

**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term contract, Temp to perm
Contract length: 6 months
Part-time hours: 12.5 per week

**Salary**: £5,909.00-£5,962.00 per year
