**JOB DESCRIPTION**

**Day Matron**

Windlesham House School is one of the country’s leading independent prep schools, set in a beautiful 65 acre country estate on the South Downs.

The School is situated on the A24 between Findon and Washington.

At Windlesham the role of Matron is very important. They should be seen to be kind but firm and enforce appropriate discipline when required. They should always have an open ear for inappropriate behaviour and deal with it, even when not on duty.

**1. The Duties**

Daily washing and sorting of school clothes

Washing and sorting of bedding, towels, pyjamas, dressing gowns on a weekly rota

Windlesham Pre-Prep, Cookery department and Medical centre laundry as and when required

Sorting the weekly dry cleaning

Keeping clothes in good order - sewing and mending as and when required
- Managing the Lost property items
- Changing Rooms

Maintaining tidiness and order at all times

Washing sorting and rehanging Games kit, PE kit and wet weather kit
- Assist the Resident Matron in the day to day running of the Boarding house

**2. Reporting to**: - The Head Matron

**3. Security**
- In the Staff guidelines and the Health & Safety Policy there are many references to security. It is important that all Matrons are aware of the security arrangements for the site as a whole and for the Boarding houses in particular.

**4. Staffing Arrangements**

Day Matrons will be required to work from 09:00 - 14:00 Monday to Friday and on Saturdays (16 per year) from 09:00 - 14:00 term time only and 2 days before the start of term and 2 days after the end of term

**5. Coping with Change in the Routines**

Timings can change for all sorts of reasons and Matrons have to accept that flexibility in their working hours is essential. Change can be caused by Malden Family theatre events, school plays, team matches, one-off events e.g. fireworks, end of terms.

**6. Beginning and End of Term/Half Term**

Participate in the unpacking and packing routines.

**Job Type**: Part-time

**Salary**: £11.45 per hour

Expected hours: 25 per week
