Childcare Practitioner

Role Purpose

A Childcare practitioner is a key member of the early years team and is responsible to support and maintain quality care and learning opportunities in a stimulating environment whilst meeting the needs of the children and families.

**Main Duties**:

- Effectively deliver the Early Years Framework ensuring that each child’s individual needs are met and a high-quality service is delivered
- Communicate effectively within the team to ensure an understanding of responsibilities on a day-to-day basis
- Observe, record and evaluate children’s learning journeys and share them with the parents/carers
- Review and adhere to policies and procedures
- Be flexible within working practices, undertaking other duties where needed, e.g. domestic tasks
- Advise management of any concerns regarding children, parents and the safety of the environment whilst keeping complete confidentiality
- Be involved in out of working hours activities, e.g., training, staff meetings, parents’ evenings

**Health and Safety**:

- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of each child, colleagues and visitors at all times
- Ensure daily safety checks, registers and medication forms are completed accurately
- Maintain a safe environment for the children, ensuring all equipment and resources are set out appropriately

**Professional Learning and Development**:

- Meet with team leader/care manager for support regularly
- Meet with care manager for appraisal every 6 months
- Take responsibility for own learning and participate in agreed training, ensuring continuous professional development meets the SSSC requirements

The successful applicant will be required to become a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme and register with the SSSC

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent

**Salary**: £6.70-£12.20 per hour
