An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Senior Paediatric Audiologist to join our busy and friendly Audiology department in Warwick. This is a progressive, forward thinking department that needs new and dynamic staff to maintain progression and deliver the highest quality care.

As a senior audiologist specialising in Paediatrics you will provide support to Children’s Hearing Services including comprehensive Community Paediatric services based in Nuneaton and Rugby. The post will be based in Warwick Hospital with traveling required to other sites within North and South Warwickshire on a weekly basis. We provide the majority of paediatric assessments within our specialist audiological suite based at Woodloes Primary School in Warwick.

The post holder must be able to undertake Auditory Brainstem testing and be able to evaluate results and implement a management plan.

You will have a BSc in Audiology (or equivalent) and will also be RCCP registered or equivalent. Experience with working in Paediatric Audiology is essential.

Be able will work autonomously and as part of a team providing a comprehensive range of services to children from birth to 18 years.

Must be able to undertake Auditory Brainstem testing and evaluate results and implement a management plan.

You will have responsibility for Audiological assessment and rehabilitation, whilst ensuring the delivery of a high-quality Service for patients.

As part of an audiology team, performs daily clinical work, both within the hospital and outreach clinics.

Conducts paediatric hearing aid fittings, reviews and assessments and programmes aids using manufactures software and specific specialised hardware.

To perform objective and behavioural tests in children to a high standard from birth till the age the child transitions to Adult Services.

Support the Lead Paediatric Audiologist in providing a high-quality service and develop the service further.

The post holder will be responsible and accountable for the audiological care of patients allocated to them. For every patient contact the post holder will comply with the Trust’s Infection Control Procedures to minimise the risk of cross infection with particular reference to the handling, cleaning and disinfection of ear canal impressions, earmould’s and equipment.

To provide excellent service to clients, outlining options in a family-friendly, supportive atmosphere, working empathetically with the client to overcome fears and anxieties about solutions to their communication difficulties.

Plan and organise own workload on an ongoing basis to ensure all relevant tasks are completed within appropriate/allocated timescales.

Responsible for the creation of entries to the client’s record held in Auditbase, the departmental electronic patient record (Auditbase and Lorenzo), recording full information relating to test results, discussions with client, hearing aid programming details, stock issued etc. in line with departmental protocols and procedures.

Undertake a full range of audiological procedures in line with national and departmental protocols and procedures but working safely outside the procedure when clinically necessary.

Paediatric Audiology Clinics are held at Woodloes Audiology Suite (In Warwick) Nuneaton and Rugby. The post holder will work autonomously and where necessary alone to provide Hearing Assessments, Hearing Aid Fittings, Hearing Aid Reassessments, Follow ups and Hearing Aid Repairs for children.

Ability to work under pressure choosing the most appropriate diagnostic tests to enable an accurate diagnosis to be made for children.

Discussing diagnostic results with paediatrics/families informing them about their hearing loss in an empathetic manner to motivate them to make informed choices about rehabilitation options to assist with their communication difficulties.
