**Security Guard - Centre Operative - Job Description**
**Purpose of the Role**
As a Centre Operative you will be accountable to the Centre Supervisor & the Centre Manager for the support and delivery of all services within the Mercat Shopping Centre site. Ensuring the common areas of the Centre are safe and maintained efficiently. In order to comply with the Security Industry Act 2001, you must hold a valid SIA Security Licence and where necessary a Public Space Surveillance Licence.
**Key Responsibilities**
You will ensure exemplary standards of Health & Safety, cleanliness & housekeeping standards, security and customer service are provided to the client and visitors to the site always. You are the public face of the Centre team and should act with professionalism always, a can-do attitude is essential.
**Day to Day duties**:
- To be part of a team and play an active role in managing public, tenant and staff safety.
- Assume keyholder responsibilities for the Shopping Centre.
- To readily interact with all visitors / tenants within the buildings, including senior or local authorities, governing bodies whilst delivering a customer focused service.
- Carry out regular patrols of the Centre, being proactive and always following the company security, Health & Safety, Standards & cleanliness strategy.
- Ensure compliance with all company procedures, Centre processes and external bodies including enforcement agencies and auditory bodies.
- Ensure a timely response to all security or cleaning issues & events, taking immediate action where required.
- First aid trained and ready to assist visitors and general public when required.
- Anti-terrorist and fire marshall trained on how to deal with emergency situations including evacuations.
- Monitoring CCTV (by suitably trained and licensed staff)
- Be professional, pleasant, friendly, courteous and helpful always whilst carrying out duties to the highest levels.
- To ensure exemplary standards in personal grooming, strictly adhering to the site uniform requirements.
- Continuously look for opportunities to be of assistance to visitors to the Centre proactively offering assistance wherever opportunities arise.
- To ensure that the Centre is a safe and non-threatening environment for all visitors / tenants.
- Ensuring all incidents are reported and managed in accordance with company and Centre policies and procedures.
- Liaising with your line manager, proactively reacting to incidents and ensuring colleagues are fully briefed and supported.
- Intelligent understanding of human behaviour, monitoring and surveillance of suspect individuals logging and reporting incidents in line with company and Centre polices.
- Maintain vigilance and highlight / report and manage unauthorised access by banned persons.
- Provide assistance to third party contractors / visitors ensuring all company and Centre procedures / policies are adhered too.
- Maintain continuous monitoring of Centre radio systems adhering to correct radio procedures at all times.
- Diligent management and maintenance of Centre records / reference materials including health and safety records, incident forms and the daily occurrence book.
- Complying with all the health and safety procedures including COSHH - machinery check sheets, PPE, RIDDOR.
- Use and knowledge of various machines onsite in accordance with requirements including scrubber dryers, rotary scrubber, escalator cleaners, pressure washers, vacuum cleaning machines etc.
- To ensure that all waste is dealt with appropriately, emptying and cleaning bins when necessary. (Bins can weigh up to 5 kilos).
- To control and maintain all the sanitary areas to the required standard, replenishing supplies as required.
- To report any maintenance defects relating to the building and its fixtures and fittings to the maintenance team, line manager & Centre Manager.
- Compliance with all work-related health and safety regulations always.
- To provide regular liaison and timely feedback to the management team on all aspects of service delivery, implementing effective solutions and corrective action to enhance the service.
- Report any event that may be detrimental to the fulfilment of the provision of security to the Centre Supervisor and Centre manager.
- Support the Supervisor and Centre manager with any internal / external audits in line with company policies and procedures.
- Make certain that the continuous improvement process is an integral part of service delivery increasingly adding value to both the company and the Centre.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as required to meet the needs of the business.
Pay: £11.44-£12.00 per hour
Expected hours: 42 per week
