The post-holder will be a trainee in Podiatry and will complete a BSc (Hons) Podiatry as a level 6 apprentice which will encompass teaching at the University, clinical placements (within different services in order to gain a range of clinical experience across different health and social care settings) and workplace based experience. During the apprenticeship the post holder will perform all of the elements in this job description as a learner and under the direct and/or indirect supervision of a registered practitioner. The degree apprenticeship programme combines and integrates both academic and work-based learning through close collaboration between employers and education providers. The post-holder will continuously develop their skills and ability as they progress through the degree programme so that on completion they can manage and be responsible for a caseload, with supervision from a Senior Therapist/Team Lead, providing effective Therapy to people with relevant needs.

The post holder will contribute to the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of therapy programmes as part of the multidisciplinary team. The post holder will have the knowledge to interpret information and be skilled in taking appropriate action(s) to achieve the planned outcomes. The post holder will be expected to practice in accordance with the Trust policies, guidelines, standards and statutory requirements, contribute to the maintenance of a safe clinical environment and operate within defined competency boundaries It is expected that the level of responsibility under each of the following duties will increase throughout the employees time on the degree programme. The post holder will be based within the Podiatry services and will be required to work across a variety of clinical settings; this will allow the Apprentice to develop their core clinical skills.

There will be opportunities for service development and involvement in audit and clinical governance. Services operate over a 7-day week, flexible working may be required including weekends and bank holidays The post holder is required to work as part of a team and may have supervisory responsibility for work experience students. If successful this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £38.

This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £13.
