DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES PROFESSIONAL/COMMUNICATION Demonstrate a pleasant, approachable and proactive manner to create and promote a good working relationship, within the School of Oncology and the clinical divisions Adhere to uniform policy to maintain a professional appearance Work autonomously and as part of the team, with the ability to prioritise own day to day workload and manage own time effectively Be aware of own limitations and that of others, seeking advice and guidance from Moving and Handling Advisor or senior team Act as a specialist resource/support for the Trust in relation to safer handling processes and liaise with the Moving and Handling Advisor as appropriate Communicate effectively verbally and non-verbally with the MDT regarding moving and handling provision /developments. Some of these interactions may be difficult in nature and should be escalated to Moving and handling advisor as appropriate Demonstrate effective written communication skills maintaining confidentiality at all times Demonstrate effective use of Microsoft word, excel and outlook IT packages adhering to trust and IT governance policies at all times Demonstrate a professional and keen interest in the overall work of the School of Oncology Respect equality and diversity across all areas of working practice and communications with staff, patients and other stakeholders To act as a role model for Trust values across the organisation. Maintain their own specific knowledge base and develop new skills Operate within any organisational codes of practice or those from a relevant professional body Assisting the Manual Handling Advisor with the delivery of specialist and educational moving and handling training programmes for all Trust employees, as per training needs analysis appropriate to role. Advise and support the management plan for patients with complex moving and handling needs, making recommendations to minimise risk Assist with developing on-going training sessions for link workers to ensure high standards are maintained Provide constructive feedback to staff members to enable and ensure the development of competence Assist with the monitoring of all moving and handling equipment used within the Trust in line with current legislation Provide advice and support to clinical teams with any complex moving and handling requirements of patients and equipment when required Assist the Moving and Handling Advisor in collating, interpreting and presenting data e.g.

individual service and ward based audits, risk assessments and developments Take responsibility for the accurate and timely collection and recording of data and ensuring all personally identifiable information is protected and used only for the purposes for which it was intended Have knowledge and understanding of technology in the workplace which is sufficient to maintain their efficiency. PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT 1. In collaboration with the Moving and handling advisor participate in developing and reviewing training materials, presentations and input/comment on policy updates. 2.

Maintain and develop own knowledge, skills and competence in relation to safer moving and handling practice. Proactively engage in annual Talent Conversations with line manager. 3. Assist in the development and implementation of action plans in relation to moving and handling provision.

4. Ensure own essential training is maintained 5.Attend local back exchange meeting and National back exchange conference as service allows SERVICE IMPROVEMENT AND QUALITY 1.Assist Moving and handling Advisor with monitoring, investigating and follow up on adverse events related to back injury and musculo-skeletal stress, including clinical incident. 2.Collate and participate in maintaining training records in line with current legislation 3.Contribute to the implementation of any new safer handling initiatives, ensuring practice is evidence based and adheres to trust standards and policies. 4.Participate in evaluating moving and handling provision and identifying skills gaps to ensure continued improvements, quality and standardisation of training.

5.Take reasonable care of own health and safety and that of others as per trust policy. 6.Under the guidance of the Moving and Handling Advisor, liaise with departmental managers to assist in procuring equipment and ensuring the best use of resources. Plan and deliver equipment trials and evaluations under guidance of moving and handling advisor 7.Report all accidents, incidents in relation to own sphere of work and/or defects in equipment as per trust policies and communicate as required with departmental managers and Moving and Handling Advisor. Liaise with Workforce Education Team regarding administration support for the service OTHER Be responsible for ensuring that personal corporate essential training requirements, as dictated by the trust, are met in a timely manner Be responsible for booking an appointment and completing preparation
