An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part-time (22.5 hours) Medical Education Clinical Lecturer working in the Undergraduate Department at South Tees Hospitals.

The role is part of a well-established team delivering clinical teaching to medical students across the five years of the Newcastle and Hull / York medical schools (HYMS) MBBS curriculum.

The post holder is expected to collaborate with the senior clinical teaching leads to organise and deliver clinical teaching sessions, evaluate and plan future education as well as mentoring and pastoral support of students. They will be instrumental in ensuring that the curriculum is being delivered successfully at South Tees Foundation Trust (STFT) across both hospital sites, primarily James Cook University Hospital and Friarage Hospital (Northallerton). Flexibility is really important to meet the needs of the Undergraduate Department.

**The core functions of this post are**:
To assist with planning, facilitation and delivery of teaching to undergraduate medical students involving patient’s/role players in the classroom and ward or clinic environment, including history taking, clinical examination, clinical skills, simulation based teaching and advanced communication skills.

To help coordinate placements and clinical experience for medical students by liaising with clinical staff across the trust and community as well as recruitment of patients for teaching in the classroom, clinical environment and exams.

To carry out assessments of clinical skills for undergraduate medical students for formative and summative examinations.

To provide pastoral support, mentorship and study skills support to undergraduate medical students and teaching fellows.

To support the Undergraduate team with Student Selected Components (SSC’s), Elective placements and international student placements.

To contribute to the leadership of undergraduate medical education.

To provide guidance and support for other clinical teachers such as teaching fellows, nursing staff, allied health professionals and clinicians.

The post holder will work flexibly within the department and across sites to provide resilience within the team.
