**Responsible to**: Directly accountable to and taking direction from the employer and the employer’s representatives (husband)

**Hours**: 16 hours a week & additional hours to cover annual leave and sickness of other PA’s

**Work Pattern**: 2 evenings
- Friday, Saturday or Sunday. 10pm - 6am

**Hourly Rate of Pay**: £16.00 per hour

**Based at**: Employer’s own home in Bishop’s Stortford.

**Job Purpose**

To work one to one with an adult with Huntington’s Disease. The lady has a great sense of humour and has lived in her own home that is fully adapted, with her husband. The purpose is to build a trusting professional relationship with the lady. To support her at night, support with personal care and offer friendly chats. The lady enjoys good company, TV (in particular Tony Hadley, Rod Stewart, Dancing shows and classic films like Grease or Dirty Dancing) The lady likes going out shopping with her other PA’s and people watching

**Main duties**:
To support with:

- Personal care (washing, dressing, brushing teeth etc)
- Assisting medication
- PEG feeding
- On occasions, light household tasks such as cleaning, changing the bed, washing
- Transfers whilst in and out of the wheelchair
- Lady has a tracking hoist
- To report any issues to the lady’s husband
- To perform such other duties as may reasonably be required.

**Personal Specification**
- Have experience of working with vulnerable adults.
- Flexible in the hours and times that you can work.
- Have a good sense of humour and enjoy a friendly joke.
- You should have a thorough understanding of personal safety.
- Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- A willingness to undergo any training highlighted by the employer.
- You should have some knowledge and understanding of risks.
- Have an awareness and knowledge of equal opportunities.
- Resilience and awareness of triggers in managing some behaviours that challenge.

**Special Conditions**

The post carries a 3 month probationary period.
