**JOB DESCRIPTION**

Position: Health Care Assistant

Responsible to: Manager/Nurse in charge/Senior Care Assistant

**PURPOSE OF POSTION**
- Under the supervision of nurse, participate in the development and maintenance of high quality care within a secure environment.
- To be involved in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of resident care.
- To maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the home to prevent cross infection.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Assist the service user in all activities of daily living in accordance with instructions given by the nurse in charge.
- Establish a good rapport with the service user, helping to maintain their dignity and individuality at all times.
- Participate in the rehabilitation, recreation and diversion of service user.
- Report to the nurse in charge of any changes in the condition and progress of the service user.
- Ensure the safety and welfare of the service user at all times. To be fully conversant with the homes policies and procedures.
- Report any incident of abuse to manager/nurse in charge.
- Read and adhere to the information in the care plans.
- Keep in confidence any events and conversations with service users and not discuss details regarding service users whilst of duty.
- Maintain awareness for punctuality, adherence to official duty hours.
- Accept instructions and learn by example from senior nursing staff to ensure that the service user is given care of high standard.
- Participate in the escorting of service users to medical/hospital appointments.
- Accompany service users as needed in recreational activities.
- Carry out laundering of service users clothing etc when necessary.
- Attending training courses/staff meetings as required to maintain high standards of care.
- Maintain good staff relationships within the home.
- Assist the manager/nurse in charge to introduce and welcome new staff/visitors and potential clients to the home.
- Have knowledge of health and safety within the home, report to the manager/nurse in charge of any health and safety hazards.
- Complete all carers paper work after seeing to each resident and make sure it’s all up to date before the end of your shift.
- Respect all management & senior nurses at all times.

Carry out any other duties requested by a senior member of staff. To ensure the home maintains to a high standard safe guarding the service users.

**Infection control statement**

**All staff are responsible for protecting themselves and others against an infection risks. All staff regardless of whether clinical or not are expected to comply with current infection control policies and procedures and to report any problems with regard to this to the manager. All staff undertaking patient care activities must attend infection control training and updates as required by this organization.**

**Salary**: £18,000.00-£20,000.00 per year
