**Job description**

**Head**
**of Public Affairs** and help save our world by leading our political influencing work and relationship-building within Westminster and Whitehall.
Your remit as
**Head of Public Affairs** is to
**manage our Public Affairs Unit** and work with colleagues to
**strengthen political strategy** within our advocacy work. You will
**develop and maintain a strategy for political engagement** that ensures we have strong relationships with our key targets across Government, the opposition front bench and the Houses Parliament. A senior external advocate, we will look to you to
**build a network of political contacts** too. You will
**share political advice and briefings** with senior management and network colleagues to ensure their work is making best use of the UK political audience. In addition, you will
**provide a political sense-check and advice on external messaging**. You will also ensure that the unit is planning and organising political events for WWF, including our attendance at the annual party conferences. Important will be the ability to
**furnish regular reporting** on our key political actions and successes to senior stakeholders.
For this critical role, you must have
**a track record of changing government decisions and influencing political decision-making** at every level. You will
**possess an in-depth knowledge of Westminster and Whitehall**, ideally including good personal contacts with Ministers and special advisers, as well as a good understanding of parliamentary processes. Comfortable equipping senior colleagues with the ability to put political analysis and strategy at the heart of their own influencing work, you will be
**adept at coordinating external stakeholders and internal resources **to deliver results.
Your technical abilities will be complemented by
**outstanding interpersonal, negotiating and communication skills.** You will be effective at building high performing teams too. Of course, you will be able to show a commitment to the natural world and WWF’s core mission.
