Job Summary:
WORKING NIGHTS Our Bakers are responsible for monitoring their own production and pace throughout each shift, as directed by the Bakery Head. Bakers will go through extensive training with the Bakery Head. Our training is structured so that our Bakers build a strong product-knowledge foundation, gain the skills to be able to train others and learn to handle many different situations that may arise within our kitchen. are seeking a skilled Baker to join our team. As a Baker, you will be responsible for preparing and baking a variety of delicious baked goods. Your expertise in the kitchen and passion for culinary arts will contribute to the success of our bakery.

**Responsibilities**:
Experience in working with a team, with a positive, ‘can-do’ attitude

Acting in a responsible manner that promotes the culture, values and mission of SAY

Setting the example by maintaining consistent attendance and punctuality

Listening carefully to ensure updates on training, methods or procedures are well understood

Ensuring you uphold SAY's standards of product quality

Supporting new or unfamiliar team members on the respective station in the kitchen where they’ll be working, as needed, during their orientation/onboarding/training period

Communicating effectively with others in the kitchen which include the Bakery Lead and Decorators

Be an integral part of a cohesive team that enjoys working together by thriving in an environment that promotes growth and accountability

Praising your peers on both small and large wins. It’s important not only to communicate when improvements are needed, but also when things are being done well. This allows us to promote a positive work environment that SAY is known for and loves

Having good knowledge of all the ‘disciplines’ in the kitchen so that they are able to fill in for any Bakery employee at any time. These disciplines include: dough mixing, overnight bake (cutting, proofing, frying), decoration, and prep

Understanding the breakdown of doughnut quantities needed for each day

Being able to maintain the pace, follow the quantities on the board and keeping the products on time

Understanding the store/stockist delivery schedule and drivers schedule to ensure doughnuts are ready and leave on time.

Executing special orders or menu items Including but not limited to: Custom Letters, Custom Shapes, and Doughnut Walls & Towers.

Remain focused and prioritise important kitchen tasks

Having a thorough understanding of SAY’s standards for: Glaze Consistency, Weight of Fillings, Flavor, Dough Texture, and Visual Aesthetics.

Being comfortable with & knowledgeable of all of SAY doughnut dough recipes

Conducting a doughnut count each day before the shift is over, to ensure all doughnuts were cut for the day - Feedback to the Bakery Lead with ‘actual’ numbers.

Ensuring the Bakery Head is alerted of all raw dough, flat doughnuts and any other inconsistencies immediately

Communicating clearly with the team to help the Bakery Head ensure the quality of prep items is at a proper standard

Helping maintain the cleanliness of entire kitchen by ensuring team members are organising and cleaning their stations (including under the tables and in the refrigerators)

Helping ensure product quality and freshness throughout the week by FIFO’ing the refrigerators, glazes, toppings and dry goods

Performing inventory as per the Bakery Head’s request.

**Skills**:Availability to work NIGHT SHIFTS (8pm - 4 am), with flexibility on odd occasions, such as markets, festivals etc

Extreme attention to detail

Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing

Ability to inspire co-workers with an inspirational, positive and passionate attitude

Ability to help build and establish an infectious and diverse culture focused on creativity, open communication and excellence

Ready to be pushed through an inspirational approach to take their career to the next level

Must be able to stand the majority of the work day and lift up to 25kg

Pay: £12.00-£13.50 per hour
