We're recruiting for a PR and Media Manager for a client of ours based in Newcastle city centre. We have 1 fixed term contract to run until May 2024. (with possible extension)

37 hours per week (Monday - Friday) £16.03 per hour + holiday pay. Working on-call for one week roughly every 7-8 weeks. This role is NOT open to students due to the shift pattern. This role is hybrid so you MUST be based in the North East.

Duties will include:

- Coordinate and deliver integrated Comms and PR campaigns and activity across multiple channels within the organisation
- Organise, plan and prioritise own work activities, and the work of others where appropriate, to contribute to the achievement of Service objectives and professional standards.
- Help to drive the development of a consistent and impactful narrative around the University's many stories, making them simple, understandable, and relevant to key audience groups. In addition, you will contribute to communications and PR management in response to issues, incidents, or crisis situations.
- Involves preparing press releases and statements; drafting project briefs and communication plans; developing content for print and digital channels for a full range of audiences; copywriting; editing; proofing; managing photography and film shoots; and editing photography and film footage.
- The ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels is vital.
- Work co-operatively and maintain effective relationships with others, internally and externally to the University, as appropriate to own area of responsibility.
- Develop and maintain a specialist knowledge of own area of responsibility.
- Demonstrate a flexible attitude to change to support the University to meet existing and future needs.

Skills required:

- Administration
- A background in a communications, PR or a journalism role
- Strong writing skills
- Experience working in a fast paced and high-pressure environment working with conflicting deadlines and changing needs
