Because we are growing we need a trainee stonemason/labourer to learn all aspects of the monumental masonry business.
The job
We have lots of work and have expanded over the years and need a new member of staff to join us. You will receive full training and have the opportunity to learn many skills.
Hours: 37.5 per week 8am - 4pm, Monday - Friday
**Salary**: £22,425.00 per Year
About you
- You may well be a school-leaver with little or no work experience
- You like doing something different every day
- You like to throw yourself into things
- You like working with your hands
- You have a sense of pride in what you do
- You are willing to buckle down to do the heavy lifting
- You are happy to fix something if it goes wrong
- You like working outside as well as inside
- You have a clean driving license
- You have good practical skills
- If you have basic IT knowledge, that would be an advantage
What it’s like working at Kenward and Son
Every day is different, sometimes you will be fixing something or repairing a monument, other days you will be in the workshop creating monuments or headstones or adding inscriptions by hand. Other times you may be going out and installing a monument in a cemetery.
This involves travelling around London and the surrounding areas.
We are a small tight-knit company and there are deadlines you have to meet. But at the same time as long as long as the work is getting out, there is a laid back atmosphere and we have a good laugh while we are working. Yes, sometimes you get wet when it’s raining, but that doesn’t happen very often.
Most people who work here have been here for many years, and we hope you will stay for a long time too.
