Best Interest Assessor/approved Mental Health

Bournemouth, United Kingdom BCP Council Full time

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Occupational Therapist, Social Worker, Nurse or Psychologist to join BCP Council's DoLS team on a permanent basis. We are looking for a dual qualified Best Interest Assessor and Approved Mental Health Professional (or be willing to train as an AMHP) to join BCP Council’s DoLS team.

Although a further delay to the Liberty Protection Safeguards has been announced, this is still a very exciting time to be part of the continuing development of the DoLS service locally, providing a high quality service to our residents.

You will be undertaking assessments under the DoLS legislation, contributing to our Duty service - triaging referrals, and providing support and guidance around DoLS and the MCA to practitioners in the BCP area. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the running and delivery of BIA forums and will have regular high quality supervision. If qualified you will also be required to be on BCP Council’s AMHP rota.

Ideally you will be an experienced Best Interest Assessor under the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.

If successful, you will join a creative and highly motivated team of practitioners and managers who work positively to promote the human rights of adults across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.

The salary range reflects AMHP grading.
- This authority is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the community and expects all staff and volunteers to share the same commitment. Applicants to this post will be required to complete the appropriate level of Disclosure & Barring Service Check. Please refer to the Person Specification for more details._

As a result of the creation of BCP Council in 2019, we are working on simplifying our terms and conditions of service and will be creating a single pay structure which all of our employees will move on to. It is important to us that we offer benefits that our colleagues value as part of their total employment package and we are reviewing these to make sure we have it right. We’re hoping to implement these changes in 2024 and all colleagues joining us will be included in these changes
