**OUR VALUES IN ACTION**

Care and Compassion Quality and Teamwork Dignity and Respect Openness, honesty and responsibility

**CAMHS - Clinical Associate in Applied Psychology for Children and Young People**

**(Band 7, Permanent, based at the Andrew Lang Unit, Selkirk)**

The role requires competencies and recent experience of delivering evidence based individual mental health interventions (e.g. CBT minimum), formal parenting interventions (IY/TripleP/MP), combined family approaches, familiarity with groupwork (children/young people/parents), and LIAM/BA training to trainer-coach level. These should sit alongside competencies in mental health and neuro developmental assessment, formulation, caseload organisation and excellent communication.

We are a CAMHS service with combined mental health and neuro developmental remits set in a rural catchment. As such we are looking for adaptability and openness to develop and then deploy skills across mental health and neuro developmental pathways. We are looking for colleagues who can work both in busy multidisciplinary office environments, as well as to self-travel and work alone in community bases to provide locality based services. We are looking for initiative and a willingness to innovate to meet the needs of young people and families.

Initial jobplans will include LIAM training and mentoring to multiagency partners, providing evidence based intervention for CAMHS Tier 3 cases, undertaking intellectual disability/ neurodevelopmental assessment components alongside interventions where appropriate, and developing and providing groupwork (ND and MH, parent and child).

Supervision will be from an experienced Clinical Psychologist or CAAP colleague within the same service. In addition, peer support, individual mentoring, accessible line management and continued professional development are features of our team’s ethos.

We are a small, friendly CAMHS service with a positive culture and a broad remit. We provide support for community partners via early intervention programmes and consultation, a neuro developmental pathway, a focused pathway for ID/LD, significant volumes of Tier 3 multidisciplinary and psychological interventions, and Tier 4 intensive community treatment.

We provide placements for Trainee CAAPs and Clinical Psychologists alongside all other professions. Our team includes Psychiatrists, CPNs, Clinical Psychologists, CAAPs, Specialist nurses, Assistant Psychologists, AHPs, Music and Art Therapists, Administrative staff (and a Thera pet or two).

We have a base at the Andrew Lang Unit (Selkirk), hot-desks in several venues, and we provide face-to-face clinics at the Borders General Hospital and various locality bases (Eyemouth, Duns, Hawick, Peebles etc) alongside a small number of NearMe clinics where appropriate. LIAM training/mentoring and group work will be provided at venues appropriate for the programs across the catchment.

CAMHS Psychology posts are ALU Selkirk-based arrangements. The majority of our work is face to face and so use of a car is almost essential for efficient service provision across our rural locality, though there are a few aspects of the work that can be efficiently completed at home.

The Scottish Borders region is a beautiful area with affordable housing, small towns, hills, lochs, farmland and woodlands which can support an excellent quality of life. However, many of the team do commute from the Lothians.
- (Relocation expenses are available for eligible staff moving a significant distance to live in the area)._
