The degree nursing apprenticeship programme combines academic and work-based learning through collaboration between employers and education providers.

The role requires you to successfully complete and pass the academic and practice elements of the programme as specified by the PAH, Anglia Ruskin University, NMC and the Institute of Apprenticeship standards. You will be required to complete an apprenticeship portfolio to demonstrate learning, skills and complete an end point assessment.

The course is made up of 2 parts each 2 years long and will require you to be able to fully commit to the requirements of the course. You will need to be committed to do theory work and assignments in personal time whilebalancing your normal duties, study days and everyday life.

You will be working 37.5 hours, while rotating though different clinical environments and your working patterns will include shifts such as long days, nights and weekends (as per the NMC directives to be on the register).
- Successful achievement and progression through academic milestones and levels as per curriculum requirements
- Continuous professional development and maintenance of a professional portfolio
- Recognise and consistently work within the boundaries of their skills, knowledge and competence, escalating and seeking guidance and support from the supervising registered nurse as required

The Princess Alexandra Hospital Trust (PAHT) provides a full range of general acute, outpatient and diagnostic services at The Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow, the Herts and Essex Hospital in Bishop’s Stortford, and St Margaret’s Hospital in Epping.

- Delivers high quality, compassionate, evidence-based care to patients following the initial assessment by the registered practitioner using person centred approaches which promote health and independence.
- Under supervision of the registered practitioner, ensures that all patients have appropriate individualised clinical assessments / risk assessments providing accurate feedback to the team as necessary.
- Demonstrates effective approaches to monitoring signs and symptoms of physical, mental, cognitive, behavioural and emotional distress, deterioration or improvement and liaises with the registered practitioner in an appropriate and timely manner to review / reassess care needs as required.
- Contributes to the ongoing assessment of the patient, providing information to inform assessments.
