**About us**:
At Medical & Legal Admin Services (MLAS), our mission is to support the business growth of our Expert Witnesses by providing them with comprehensive support, streamlined administrative services, and effective marketing to ensure nomination for instruction. We collaborate directly with solicitors and reputable Medical Reporting Organisations (MROs) to establish enduring relationships between Instructing Parties and Expert Witnesses. Our panel boasts a diverse range of experts from both medical and non-medical backgrounds. They possess the expertise to generate accurate reports for personal injury and clinical negligence cases, serving both Claimant and Defendant instructors.

**Purpose of the Role**:
Our Proofreading team provide a high level of support to our Administrators by ensuring the quality of the expert witness reports are to the very highest grammatical standard.

Knowing the experts assigned to you and recognising how they prefer to work will be for you to understand and take proactive ownership of in the first instance. There will be an element of discretion required based on how individual expert witnesses require their report template to be formatted and presented. Being open and adaptable is a fundamental requirement of this medicolegal proofreading role.

**Key focus areas and responsibilities**:

- Dealing professionally with quality assurance tasks and responding to incoming work within set SLA’s.
- Understand all the checks described in the Expert Points of Reference documents and keep up to date with on-going process changes.
- Proofread medicolegal reports to ensure work is of a high standard and 100% accurate; immediately flagging any major issues with Administrators and/or Team Leader.
- Clearly mark up all documents digitally so that others can clearly follow your recommended amendments.
- Make rephrasing recommendations to ensure document structure and content are credible and consistent.
- Understand and be part of a team culture that ensures a ‘right first time, every time’ approach and take pride in the accuracy/quality of work produced.
- Stay abreast with grammatical development as well as new terminologies in a language.
- Continuously develop and expand your own knowledge and commercial awareness through on-going developmental coaching/training. Engage in monthly 121’s and own performance and progression.
- Participate in team meetings and be ready to discuss current workloads and provide updates.
- Support the company vision and values through role model behaviours.
- Accurate updating of the case management system/relevant database/spreadsheets is key.

**Skills**:

- Strong literacy skills - spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
- A sharp eye for detail and the ability to concentrate for long periods of time.
- Refined communication skills with the ability to demonstrate rapport building and active listening.
- Ability to ask clarifying questions to aid understanding and being receptive when feedback is provided.
- Ability to remain calm, positive, and engaged when there are work pressures.
- Strong time management.
- Self-awareness and ability to know when to adjust own style to ensure best outcome.

**Knowledge and Experience**:

- Good understanding of risk, GDPR policies and the need for confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Excel, Word, and Power Point.
- You will have experience of or be willing to learn the principles of medicolegal work and understand the needs of our customers (expert witnesses).
- To have good brand awareness, actively support the ambitions of the business.
