The D&I team sits in our new D&I, Wellbeing, Business Partnering and Organisational Design Division which are part of our Human Resources Directorate. The Directorate includes teams dedicated to driving forward the People agenda in the Department. Each year we publish an annual D&I action plan which shows clearly to all staff what we will do to deliver our D&I commitments. We have active and vibrant staff networks for all employees to join and work collaboratively with networks and groups to develop people policies, processes and interventions through which we can nurture and realise potential in all, and at all levels.

**Job description**:
This is an exciting opportunity for 2 talented individuals who are passionate about the work of diversity and inclusion and making a difference to the inclusive culture of the department.
- Being flexible and adaptable to changing demands in both D&I and wider HR, and lead on projects that require quick results and well-managed implementation.
- Building and maintaining effective relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders and contacts at all levels in the department and wider Civil Service. These will include HR colleagues, Networks and Senior Diversity Champions where you will provide expertise and support.
- Gathering and analysing a range of quantitative and qualitative data; using data and evidence to make decisions, evaluate impact and effectively monitor performance of D&I activities and priorities.
- Drawing on your knowledge, understanding and experience of working in D&I in government or across other sectors.
- Designing and/or delivering interventions that build diverse and inclusive cultures, by working with key HR colleagues and the staff networks.
- Drafting papers and briefings on D&I issues and presenting matters to a range of contacts persuasively, especially senior colleagues.

**Person specification**:
**Essential Criteria**
- Demonstrable understanding, knowledge, and experience of D&I, the Equality Act 2010 and relevant D&I legislation.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship management, including the ability to bring people together in support of a goal and use evidence to influence senior leaders.
- Strong organisational skills - capable of managing multiple priorities effectively and ensuring their work is delivered to time and effectiveness; capable of taking a high level of autonomy and making positive contributions as part of a team.
- Strong drafting and communication skills, with an ability to respond to tight deadlines.
- Ability to use data and evidence to support recommendations and demonstrate impact.

- Alongside your salary of £37,593, Department for Education contributes £10,150 towards you being a member of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme. As a member of the DfE, you will be entitled to join the highly competitive Civil Service Pension Scheme, which many experts agree is one of the most generous in the UK.

You will have 25 days leave, increasing by 1 day every year to a maximum of 30 days after five years’ service. In addition, all staff receive the King’s Birthday privilege holiday and 8 days’ bank and public holidays.
