The Pakenham Fox is a very traditional free house set in the idyllic village of Pakenham in Suffolk. Privately owned and run without the interference of a big brewery, we are looking for the right personality, or personalities, to join our small team working in the kitchen.
With a huge beer garden, bar & eatery, childrens play area, events and much more, the pub really is at the heart of the village. We have a lot of regulars, from the usual village 5 o'clock club, families who visit regularly, cyclists, dog walkers, weddings and so on. We are dog friendly all year round.
The role will primarily be working in our kitchen, we have a small team, we serve simple home cooked pub food & really good roasts in winter. We change the menu seasonally, and we do regular events serving stone baked pizzas, BBQ and so on. This is not a gastro pub type location, its very much home cooked pub food, with a twist doing some events and such like.
We are very keen on anyone joining the business really becoming part of the team, so team players welcomed.
We are flexible on times, shifts and availability. Some weekend work is required, as well as some evenings, but there is a rolling rota system which can be adapted to suit individuals
The role can be flexed to suit the right individuals, but the core responsibilities are as follows:
- assisting with the preparation and serving food
- ensuring that the kitchen service areas are clean and tidy
- cleanliness and replenishing of all prep
- maintaining consitent levels of food service, processing orders accurately and efficiently
- coordinate menu or product changes
- respond to customer queries
You will have:
- The ability to accurately process orders in a time efficient manner
- First class communication skills and demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail
- The ability to demonstrate great team work
- Good Standards of Hygiene
- Experience of working in a busy kitchen
- The ability to follow processes and adhere to procedures
- excellent interpersonal skills for diplomatically handling staff and customers
- the ability to cope under pressure
- good cooperation skills - the ability to both work in and lead a team
- the ability to work independently and make decisions confidently problem-solving ability, to resolve issues as they arise
This role could suit a cook from a different environment, who can cope well in a busy kitchen, and work well as part of a small team. Nothing we do is hugely complicated, it just needs to be consistently well done to keep our regulars happy
Any questions - feel free to ask.....
