**Casework Coordinator - Refugee Support**

**Salary: £25,783 per annum (pro rata) (Salary includes a market supplement)**

We are looking for a **Casework Coordinator** to join our **Refugee Support** team Reporting to the Refugee Support Service Manager, you will ensure the provision of high-quality, person-centred, advice and advocacy support for people in a range of complex and crisis related situations in the Southeast area.
You’ll primarily be responsible for the coordination of volunteers and through them, the delivery of casework services for asylum seekers, refugees and vulnerable migrants. For many in this client group, they can be particularly vulnerable and at risk of experiencing destitution or legal isolation. You’ll be providing them with much needed support.
You’ll take a holistic approach to supporting these individuals, by providing clients with short-term casework support. This could involve directing clients for help with their asylum cases or basic essentials, or building strong working relationships with local agencies and charities operating in the local area where individuals can be referred to for further assistance.
This is a rewarding role, requiring excellent advocacy and communication skills, the ability to work sensitively and remain calm under pressure.

The Southeast Refugee Support team provides access to practical support, information and advice to people affected by asylum and immigration issues across the area. Within the Southeast, you will be a part of the Thames Valley team with a specific focus on the Reading area. We work in partnership with many organisations across Thames Valley to provide these services, including the provision of destitution support. Our frontline services are supported by trained volunteers under the supervision of our casework coordinators. Through effective signposting, referrals, advice and advocacy support we enable service users to access their rights and entitlements as well as the services they need.
**This role might be for you if...**
- You've got experience delivering casework with vulnerable clients (ideally within the asylum support system), and you’re able to effectively advocate on behalf of clients to realise their rights and entitlements.
- You have an understanding of issues relating to refugees, asylum seekers and other vulnerable migrants
- You’re able to support, manage and develop volunteers
- You're a team player; you're able to work as part of a team within what can sometimes be a high-pressure environment. You will have experience of cross-agency partnership and collaborative working too.
- You're a great communicator with the ability to adapt your communication based on the audience.
- You have experience providing sensitive, safe and empowering support to distressed people in vulnerable situations
