We are looking to recruit a waking night carer for a young person with complex needs. You will be required to work 35 hours a week on average with three nights one week and four nights the following week with every second weekend off. Excellent working environment.

Applicants should come from a childcare background or have experience as a carer with special needs; however we will consider all applicants from a care background. Training will be provided in house for the young person's medical needs.

You need to provide details of employment history and we will complete an enhanced Access NI check. You need a driving licence.

Job Description for a Personal Assistant

**Salary**

£15 per hour

**Hours per week**

You will be required to work between 35 hours a week and you will have two weekends off a month; you will know your shift patterns well in advance.

**Description of post**

The main duties of this post will be to provide support for a 14 year old boy who has a disability. You will assist with personal care and administer medication through a peg feed system. Light household duties will also be required.

**Essential Criteria**

Proof of Double Covid Vaccination and up to date Flu Caccination

**Personal Care and Support**

You will be required to help with washing using a shower trolley, dressing, toileting, and transferring in and out of bed using safe practice as per moving and handling training.

Use of tracking hoist (as per training)

Positioning in sleep system in bed, wheelchair, and tilt in space armchair.

The worker will need to prepare and administer peg feeds, administration of medication through peg system and provide some oral fluids and pureed foods, in line with training provided.

Help maintain good oral hygiene using swabs.

Ensure all consumable equipment is ready and available for next carer

Ensure medical equipment is cleansed and available for next carer

**Domestic Tasks**

General tidying, laundry and ironing.

Please ensure all work surfaces are regularly cleaned and tidied.

Change bed

Put clothing in wardrobes etc.

Staff are responsible for keeping the staff room & facilities clean and tidy.

Waste management

Washing, drying and storing dishes etc.

Keep entrance area clean and tidy.

**Reporting/Record keeping**

Must report to employer any changes or areas of concern regarding the young person or working environment.

Keep records of night activity (example: output, incontinence pads, medication administered)

Help to ensure medication routine is adhered to by double checking with person responsible for it.

**Other Duties**

Assisting with any other tasks that the employer may reasonably request
