Post holders will be employed as members of the Psychiatric Liaison Service to provide a flexible resource to in patient wards within the District General Hospitals across ABM University Health Board. Post holders will:

- Be a fully engaged member of the Psychiatric Liaison Service, providing a flexible resource within a defined area, supporting Liaison Practitioners with patients who may have complex needs in hospital.
- To undertake intervention programmes with individual patients as directed by a multidisciplinary liaison team member, underpinned by appropriate experience/knowledge.
- The post holder will supervise and instruct patients in activities relating to their treatment programme, use of specific rehabilitation techniques and skills to assist in the provision of a flexible, patient-centred programme of therapeutic activities.
- Educate ward staff to address the needs of patients who present with expressive behaviours that challenge staff and have complex relational needs.
- Deliver direct patient care and implementation of strategies designed to reduce the risk and acuity presented by an individual.
- Restore and maintain functional ability for individuals within the hospital setting single handedly.
- Maintain clinical records (paper & electronic) and report accurately to others.
- Carry out administrative duties in relation to clinical, service, departmental needs

Liaise with patient families with respect to education and community services.
1. Assist Liaison Practitioners with activities and problems occurring in the service.
2. Maintain service provision to own level of competence within designated work area under the supervision of a Liaison Practitioner.
3. Responsible for organising and planning delegated tasks to meet service and patients needs/priorities.
4. Liaise closely with MDT members to update and report on any changes in the patient’s condition and aid modification of the intervention programme by the Liaison Practitioner.
5. Undertake delegated administrative tasks ensuring effective workload managementto contribute to the safe and effective running of the service as designated by the supervising Liaison Practitioner e.g.:
1. information dissemination
2. handling and making telephone enquiries
3. routine ordering of stock/materials
4. stock control procedures
5. ordering provisions
