Wild Things is looking for a talented, highly organised and professional individual with a passion and background in delivering environmental education. This is a seasonal post based out of our Findhorn office. We are looking to employ someone who is able to deliver our broad range of programmes to people of all ages and backgrounds.

This person will need to have a proven track record of outdoor leadership with relevant qualifications in the environmental/outdoor education field, as well as experience of developing resources, looking after equipment and logistics.

We require an individual with a high level of motivation, organisation and communication skills to complement the Wild Things team as well as a love of the great outdoors

**About Wild Things**

Wild Things is a successful charity based in the North-East of Scotland. Set up in 2003, we have over 20 years experience delivering a wide range of environmental education courses to participants of all ages. Our programmes include: woodland and coastal classrooms, wilderness skills, habitat restoration project (INNS removal), bushcraft courses, John Muir and Saltire Awards, Holiday Clubs and Accredited Outdoor Leadership training courses (Woodland and Coastal Activity Leader Training).

**Key Interfaces**

Internal: reporting directly to the Fieldwork Manager, as well as working closely with other members of the fieldwork team as well as the CEO & Freelance Instructors.

External: Children and adult clients (schools, youth groups, vulnerable people, volunteers, general public).

**Key Roles and Responsibilities**

You will be a key player in the delivery of our activity programme, as well as working with other fieldwork staff and volunteers in all aspects of Wild Things work.

You will be expected to have relevant qualifications/experience and a background in working with children and adults in an outdoor setting.

You will also take a shared responsibility for ensuring our stores and equipment are kept clean and organised and the correct materials are prepared and allocated to each programme.

**Specific Responsibilities**
- Deliver a variety of outdoor education programmes, including: Woodland & Coastal Classrooms, Holiday Camps, Health & Wellbeing programmes for all ages including children, teenagers, adults and older people.
- A unique responsibility of this particular role within the team will include the delivery of our new after school clubs for teenagers and primary age children, 2 days per week.
- Work closely with the Fieldwork Manager to ensure the logistics & practical needs of the programmes are met including: creating educational materials and props, and ensuring equipment, stores and vehicles are kept to a high operational standard.
- Adhering to safe work practice, policies and procedures and ensure that any volunteers you are responsible for adhere to these too.
- Be comfortable using, maintaining and teaching with relevant tools associated with our programmes (saw, knife, etc.).
- Able to work within an office environment when required and carry out basic administrative tasks.
- Able to work flexible hours such as evenings or weekends as and when required.
- Carry out any other duties as and when required in support of Wild Things goals and objectives.

**Essential Criteria**
- Qualified or with proven experience in delivering environmental education and/or outdoor activities (e.g. Woodland Activity Leader Training or Forest School Training Level 3)
- Experience of delivering outdoor/environmental education programmes for a variety of age groups.
- Experience and/or training in delivering bushcraft activities.
- Possess a good naturalist knowledge and experience of conservation work.
- A team player with evidence of working alongside volunteers and other practitioners.
- Logistics experience that includes organising and coordinating equipment, equipment maintenance and resource development.
- Have a UK driving license (ideally with D1 minibus driving endorsement OR be willing to work towards D1 or MiDAS qualification).
- Have a committed and flexible approach to the needs of the job.
- A love of the great outdoors
- Able to undertake criminal record checks and enhanced PVG registration.

**Desirable CriteriaFieldwok**
- Have a current, valid Outdoor First Aid qualification.
- Experienced in working with vulnerable people of different ages and backgrounds.
- Administrative and computing skills with some experience of working in an office environment (particularly Excel and Word).
- PA1/PA6AW Chemical Spray License and/or experience in the removal of invasive non-native species (INNS).

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 7 months

**Salary**: £22,750.00 per year
