**A quick look at the role**

We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Logistics Planner to join our team, reporting to the Area Logistics Manager. **This role can be based out of any of our sites within the North East, Humberside, Yorkshire & Scotland.**

Working in a busy logistics environment this role is focused on delivering route optimisation programmes and working with our mobilisation teams to ensure we are delivering to continued high standards.

The vehicles you will be responsible for routing range in size and use but, as a waste management company, they are a vital part of our operation.

You will be responsible for effectively managing workload at depots, utilising geographical knowledge, routing software and information, to ensure they are working as effectively as possible.

- You will use software systems and geographical knowledge to plan the routing of vehicles to ensure route optimisation.
- As a Traffic Planner you will monitor capacity at depots to ensure maximum waste segregation. This involves ensuring that vehicles are routed to the correct depot depending on the depots capacity.
- You will liaise with Depot teams and Logistics Manager to ensure service success KPI's are achieved.
- As part of this role you will support the regions in managing resources to ensure we make best use of available vehicles and staff.
- You will monitor and investigate all subcontracted work regularly and internalise the work where possible whilst ensuring the customer and business targets are met.
- You will support the business with acquisitions, by integrating new work into existing routes and achieving synergy savings for the business. More about the role:

- Traffic Planners at Biffa work in teams and act as an Area (North and South resource).
- Their role can be both tactical and strategic. At a tactical level they facilitate the mobilisation and internalisation of work that is driven from central teams (sub-contract / corporate accounts).
- At a strategic level they are seeking optimisation and efficiencies in the regions, enhancing their ability to optimise their trucks and resources.
- Planning software systems such as Logix are their prime work tool. This is a key role that interfaces with many functional teams in I&C and as such stakeholder management and communications skills are key. **Requirements**
- Minimum GCSE or equivalent in Maths & English
- Technical Knowledge: Transport legislation, e.g. Drivers' Hours
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Computer literate
