Apply advanced specialist knowledge within the clinical setting across a range of speciality specific procedures underpinned by theoretical knowledge and relevant practical experience Ensure the assessment, planning implementation and evaluation of programmes of care meet the needs of the individual and that standards are set and met in the delivery of a high quality service Provide professional knowledge and specialist advice participate in all aspects of patient care including admission recovery and discharge, working in procedure rooms assisting endoscopist to take biopsies and other endoscopy related procedures Escalating patient care as required Rotate with sisters to ensure effective and credible co-ordination of the department when undertaking the team leader role Ensure own understanding and show compliance with the NMC Code of Professional conduct/Health Professional Council guidelines for Professional Practice and promote same in others Create a physical and psychological environment, conducive to providing optimum nursing care for patients undergoing endoscopic procedures To ensure a high level of professional awareness, both personally and within the department and wider Trust by holding and attending appropriate meetings and seminars. Initiate, lead and participate in endoscopy department working groups. Actively engages in all aspects of clinical governance pertinent to the Endoscopy department Participate in the maintenance of Quality Assurance, Standards and Audit To be aware of fiscal constraints Proactive in the auditing of standards in the Directorates High impact initiatives and saving lives benchmarking scores Demonstrates promotion and dissemination of current research and audit findings Preventions and control of hospital acquired infection by ensuring close liaison with the Trusts control of infection department Implementation of Trust Risk Management Strategy and understand implications of same within area of work To manage resources effectively and efficiently, identify and plan to resolve deficiencies, to ensure high quality safe patient care Take charge of the unit and deal with managerial issues, as they arise, in the absence of the department matron
