The HGV Workshop Controller is responsible for overseeing the efficient operation of the workshop. This role involves managing a team of technicians, ensuring that repairs and maintenance tasks are completed promptly, and maintaining high standards of safety and quality. The HGV Workshop Controller coordinates workflow, schedules appointments, orders parts and supplies, and liaises with customers and other departments to ensure smooth operations.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Team Management**:

- Supervise a team of HGV technicians, providing guidance, support, and training as necessary.
- Allocate workload effectively, ensuring that tasks are completed within designated timeframes.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members to enhance productivity and efficiency.
- **Workflow Coordination**:

- Schedule repair and maintenance tasks based on priority, urgency, and available resources.
- Monitor workflow to ensure that deadlines are met and that quality standards are upheld.
- Coordinate with other departments to facilitate the smooth flow of vehicles through the workshop.
- **Quality Assurance**:

- Ensure that repairs and maintenance work meet industry standards and comply with regulatory requirements.
- Conduct quality checks on completed work to identify any deficiencies and address them promptly.
- Implement procedures to minimize rework and ensure customer satisfaction.
- **Parts and Inventory Management**:

- Order parts and supplies required for repairs and maintenance activities.
- **Customer Service**:

- Interact with customers to understand their service needs and address any concerns or inquiries.
- Provide estimates for repairs and maintenance work, ensuring transparency and accuracy.
- Strive to exceed customer expectations by delivering high-quality service in a timely manner.
- **Health and Safety Compliance**:

- Enforce safety protocols and procedures to minimize workplace accidents and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment and facilities to identify potential hazards and take corrective action as needed.
- Provide safety training to team members and promote a culture of safety awareness.

**Qualifications and Skills**:

- Proven experience in a supervisory or managerial role within an HGV workshop environment.
- Strong knowledge of HGV systems, components, and maintenance practices.
- Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities, with the capacity to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with team members, customers, and suppliers.
- A commitment to upholding high standards of quality, safety, and customer service.
- Relevant qualifications in automotive engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field may be advantageous.

Hours: Mon-Fri 8am-5pm

Occasional Saturdays

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: £40,000.00 per year
