PRINCIPAL DUTIES & AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY Ensure that clinical data is captured and entered in a timely manner. Devise and implement procedures for monitoring data quality. Train clinical and non-clinical staff in the use of the I.T. System.
Work with clinical teams to understand their routine and ad hoc reporting requirements, develop and implement the necessary reports. Analyse and investigate problems relating to data and information and choose optimal solutions from a range of alternatives Investigate and resolve data mismatches (from interfaced systems). Manage access to the system on behalf of the specialties / Clinical Directorate. Provide guidance & support to the users of the system.
Responsible for first line trouble shooting for external customers Propose new working practices in line with process changes. Responsible for introducing, adapting, and improving information systems to input, store and disseminate information Liaise with Informatics staff for best practice guidance and ensure the system is administered in accordance with this. Liaise with Informatics staff when more sophisticated statistical capability is required. Liaise with the Internal Development Team and/or system suppliers in the event of system problems.
Liaise with the Internal Development Team and/or system suppliers for the acceptance testing & implementation of new software releases. Other duties as commensurate with the grade and role as agreed with line manager. Instigate a variety of data extracts to both internal departments and external organisations. Work to agreed objectives and do this within professional and organisational policies and guidelines.
To play an active role in the I.T. system implementation which will include: Contribute to the development of the system pathway which compliments the clinical & administrative pathways. Become an expert user of the new I.T. system Implement appropriate contingency processes.
Define, produce and present reports. Work with clinical staff and the clinical coding department to define code tables. Define & implement procedures for performance monitoring. Work with the service(s) to define and agree any data interchange standards for exchanging patient level data with General Practitioners Improve processes and aiding the specialties / Clinical Directorates in meeting performance improvement targets.
Enhance the patient experience wherever possible. Promote the work of the departments locally and around the region.
