**Whitworth Curatorial Fellowship**
**Supported by the Frieze x Deutsche Bank Emerging Curators Fellowship**

**The Whitworth is looking for an emerging curator.**

We are looking for someone with a genuine interest in the visual arts, a willingness to learn and get involved in a variety of tasks, and a desire to develop a career as a curator.

The Whitworth Curatorial Fellowship is supported by the Frieze x Deutsche Bank Emerging Curators Fellowship. It is a full-time fixed term (18 month), paid traineeship, open to applicants from UK nationals who identify from a Global Majority background who may have faced barriers in accessing opportunities or a platform for representation.
This exciting traineeship opportunity is designed to enable an emerging curator to gain the experience necessary to secure permanent employment within the arts sector. The aim of the fellowship is to enable an individual to forge a long-term pathway as a curator in the visual arts.

A key part of the role will be to support the cataloguing, research, display and programming around the newly acquired ABC Wax Archive. This is last surviving industrial design archive of a Manchester têxtile printing company. Alongside working on the ABC Wax Archive project, the Fellow will gain curatorial insights and experience by working with the Collections and Exhibitions Team across a busy programme of historic, modern and contemporary art, têxtiles and wallpaper collections and exhibitions. The Fellow will also gain knowledge of wider gallery activity, working with teams across the Whitworth.

The Whitworth Fellowship is open to applicants based in Northern England (Cheshire, Cumbria, County Durham, East Yorkshire, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Merseyside, North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire, Northumberland, North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, Tyne and Wear and West Yorkshire).
