We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible and resourceful individual to join our multidisciplinary team of staff in the Breast Screening & Assessment Centre within the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The role involves a wide range of duties including escorting and chaperoning for ultrasound and clinical examinations, and caring for patients during and after diagnostic procedures including biopsies and other breast procedures.

You must be able to communicate effectively across a range of health care professionals and demonstrate empathy and sensitivity in sometimes highly emotive situations in order to ensure that high quality care is provided to our patients.

You will also be expected to handle and process data, including performing count checks on downloaded mammography images and scanning clinic documentation.

The post will be based at the Breast Screening & Assessment Centre at the Royal Victoria Infirmary. The hours of work are 08:30 - 17:00.

You must have a flexible approach to duties and have the ability to work alone as well as part of a team. Experience in a hospital/caring environment is desirable.

- 15 hours/week - 2 Days per week

To provide a high quality support service to patients, clients and staff within the multi-disciplinary Breast team. This will include chaperoning radiologists in clinics and assisting during clinical procedures, whilst demonstrating the highest levels of empathy and sensitivity.

You will have a patient-centred approach, being aware of any special needs for individuals and taking the appropriate action. This may include helping overcome communication barriers or supporting patients with mobility issues.

Working in a team it is essential that you are a supportive, positive colleague at all times with a flexible approach to duties. The role includes elements of stock management, ensuring that clinic rooms are prepared ahead of time.

You will also provide admin/managerial support for Picture Arching and communication System (PACS) and help deal with equipment and IT faults in the appropriate manner, with support from seniors.
