**Looking for a worthwhile job with the hours that work for you ?**
Join us as a Relief Support Worker, we are looking for people for to work at our Learning Centre in Bedford between 9:00 am and 4:30 pm.
**How Relief hours work**
It's a bit like a zero hour contract but without the bad bits.
- You don't have to work when it's not convenient for you.
- Receive the same training towards professional qualifications as permanent staff.
- We offer these contracts not because it suits us but because it suits you.
- Job security and career development
The Relief (Bank) post supports the permanent rota staff by completing shifts that are vacant due to annual leave, training and other staff absences. As such, hours are non-specific but your manager will endeavour to balance the needs of the service against your own work/life balance as appropriately as possible.
We normally plan the rotas one month in advance, but additional opportunities also come up due to unexpected staff absences.
This is a varied role in which you will support people to attend both our daytime learning centre and provide one-to-one support out in the community.
No two days are the same You will join in with people's favourite pastimes and hobbies, helping them lead active and healthy lives in their local community. You will also support them to learn domestic and life skills such as looking after their homes, caring for their health and being aware of their financial responsibilities.
**The Learning Centre**
The learning centre supports adults with learning disabilities across the week. The centre also provides outreach support to adults with learning disabilities in the community The team of consists of a deputy manager, senior support workers and 24 support workers. They also provide outreach support. to people like David. David
- has a his own job but appreciates the support we provide with some of his domestic arrangements. Once a week we join him for a batch cooking session. Through this activity he learns new skills and doesn't have to worry about what he is going to eat on daily basis. Learning to cook for himself makes his money go further, cutting out expensive takeaways and he is also eating a more healthy diet.
- name changed to protect privacy
**About you**
Experience isn’t necessary. If you have the right attitude, good customer service skills, share our values and are willing to learn, you’re likely to be a great fit.
