Maelor Forest Nurseries is located at Fields Farm, Bronington on the Welsh Borders. The nursery produces an extensive range of commercial forestry and native broadleaf species, marketing approximately 35 million trees a year to customers throughout the UK and Europe.

**Laboratory Assistant**
- Based: Bronington, SY13 (Wales / Shropshire Border)
- Monday to Friday, 7.45am to 4.30pm

We have a fantastic opportunity for you to kickstart and develop your career within production, in our somatic embryogenesis lab here at Maelor Forest Nurseries Working alongside our qualified research team as a Laboratory Assistant, you will learn the processes and operations in our lab. Occasional work within the forest nursery will also be necessary and will provide a holistic insight of the operations at Maelor.

**_Some responsibilities of a Laboratory Assistant include:_**
- Creating culture media and quality checking culture plates.
- Carrying out cell and plant culture work.
- Recording and inputting research data on Microsoft access.
- Transplanting emblings (young trees).
- Spraying pesticides.

**_About You_**
- GCSEs or equivalent in English and Maths (Grade 4 (C) or above)
- Good knowledge and practical abilities with Microsoft office (Excel and Word).
- Experience working in a laboratory environment, with good hand-eye co-ordination and attention to detail.
- Willingness to undertake all required training.
