Looking for an enthusiastic individual with previous audio typing and administration experience to work within our Cardiology Department.

To provide administrative audio-typing support to the Cardiology Secretarial Department, including use of medical terminology and digital dictation systems in the typing of Consultant Clinic letters.

To provide administrative support to the Cardiac Catheterisation Suite, including use of medical terminology and digital dictation systems in the typing of MDT outcomes as and when the Cardiac Cath Suite Administrator is on leave.

To provide a courteous and professional service to patients by efficiently managing phone queries and providing administrative support for cardiac patients in a busy department.

The position is based at Bedford Hospital. We work within a busy but friendly office within the Cardiology Department.

1. Type clinical correspondence using the audio dictation system, according to clinical priority and chronological order in line with agreed standards of speed/accuracy.
2. To prioritise own workload appropriately, referring any service concerns to the Admin Lead in a timely manner.
3. To be proficient in the use of local Cardiology systems and Microsoft Office software including TOMCAT, Bighand, Medi-Viewer, Excel, Outlook, Word and Teams.
4. To be able to concentrate in a multi-task environment and deal with frequent, unpredictable interruptions.
5. To provide general administrative support where required across the whole function of the administration/secretarial team.
6. To maintain confidentiality at all times ensuring that all data is kept secure and confidential in accordance with the Trust’s policies.

2a. Cath Suite Administrative Cover
1. To receive patient queries via the telephone and liaise with appropriate staff to ensure query is resolved in a timely manner.
2. To undertake the scanning and uploading of relevant documents to Medi-Viewer following patient attendance to the unit.
3. Produce the agenda for patients to be discussed at the MDT with guidance from the lead consultant.
4. Ensure that all clinical information for these patients is available in preparation for the MDT.
5. Ensure post-MDT correspondence is sent to external and internal stakeholders in a timely manner.
6. To liaise with the Radiology staff who manage the Image Exchange Portal to facilitate the migration of images to and from the Trust.
7. To be aware of NHS waiting time targets.
