Swanage, United Kingdom National Trust Full time

We're looking for a Senior Volunteering & Community Officer to join the team at the Purbeck property.

What it's like to work here:Being an ‘Isle’, we have a vast coastline. From the towering and rugged cliffs in South Purbeck, to the salt marsh and estuaries of Poole harbour, to the sandy shorelines of Studland. But it’s not just about the nature, it’s as much about the people too. One of the National Trust’s strategy priorities is to make sure everyone is welcome on our land as well as breaking down the barriers for those who don’t currently access or connect to nature on (and off) our land.

Our priority audiences include children and young people, local Purbeck people and people with physical access needs. Through the strong relationships already developed with local schools, community groups and partnerships, you will be delivering activities, events and projects that connect these audiences to nature and strengthen those local networks.

To become part of our friendly team, you will need a love of the outdoors and an interest in active pursuits.

What you'll be doing:You will be managing the development and delivery of this portfolio’s strategic plan for primarily communities alongside the property's Engagement team and leadership team. Managing and embedding change whilst widening and deepening our relationships with existing and new audiences.

You will also increase the confidence and capability of others whilst creating a collective, flexible and inclusive environment for existing & future volunteers, communities and partners.

Who we're looking forWe'd love to hear from you if you have:

- understanding and good practice of volunteer management.
- understanding of good practice in community engagement and involvement, as well as broader participation and partnership working.
- practical and successful experience of developing and implementing new products and approaches to volunteers.
- excellent organisational and planning skills.
- ability to coach and support those managing, supervising and working alongside volunteers and community partners.
- strong communication skills.

The packageThe National Trust has the motto ‘For everyone, for ever’ at its heart. We’re working hard to create an inclusive culture, where everyone feels they belong. It’s important that our people reflect and represent the diversity of the communities and audiences we serve. We welcome and value difference, so when we say we’re for everyone, we want everyone to be welcome in our teams too.
