If you're looking for a step in your career into a Principal position then now may be the time. This role is with one of Europe's leading aviation companies and offers the chance to grow quickly as the company undergoes a digital modernisation.

**THE COMPANY**

The company has been around for a long time now and has been established as one of the largest companies in its industry. Unsurprisingly, with industries like these data is a necessity and they have mostly gotten by using legacy and old-school data systems.Since receiving a large round of funding they now hope to transform their data team and incorporate more modern technologies into their plans.

**THE ROLE**

A key area they are looking to grow into is the cloud. As they undergo a large migration into AWS you will be responsible for ETL maintenance and big data management. You will go into one of several different departments of the business, including the financial,airport or customer departments. You will then be one of the more senior members in the team and will perhaps be expected to offer mentorship to those more junior or less experienced in the cloud and big data.

**YOUR EXPERIENCE**

To be a successful Principal Data Engineer here you will want to have experience in the following:

- Being one of the more senior members in a team
- Working on a cloud migration project - this doesn't have to be in AWS
- Python and SQL understandings
- Big data experience is key
- Have a good understanding for how to prepare the data best for the Data Scientists
