**Your new role, what's involved?**
WSP, in a Strategic Partnership with Balfour Beatty Living Places (BBLP) will deliver Professional Services for East Sussex County Council’s new contract for highways and infrastructure services. The contract, valued at £297 million, will run for an initial seven years and commenced on 1st May 2023.

The position is a combination of office and site based, with travel and accommodation (where appropriate) for inspections.

**ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE**
- Planning of inspection works;
- Undertaking inspections;
- Preparation of pre-inspection and post inspection site notes;
- Preparation and/or review of Inspection Reports;
- Ensuring the safety of your colleagues at all times.

**YOUR TEAM**

The Structures team is busy with highway and rail bridge engineering work, delivering our annual programme of General & Principal Inspections for East Sussex Highways.

We are seeking an Inspector to join our Bridges team based in Ringmer, East Sussex.

You will be pivotal in planning and delivering a full programme of inspections and will use your knowledge and skills to deliver the right quality to time and budget. You will use those attributes to mentor and support more-junior team members in all aspects of bridge inspection work.
**We'd love to hear from you if you have**:

- A hands-on dedication to safe working practices and recording of safety observations;
- Relevant inspection and access qualifications, eg. STE4, STE5, PASMA, rail trolley controller, PTS certification and/or National Highways passport, BICS certified inspector;
- Practical knowledge and experience of bridge inspection and reporting for railway and highway clients;
- Proven competency in the use of measuring and surveying equipment (eg. level, total station);
- A full UK driving licence;
- Good communication, report writing skills and interpersonal skills are essential, plus a passion for adapting to new challenges, an interest in and adoption of new technologies and willingness to actively participate in the development of the bridges team.
