**About The Role**:
We are looking for a new Funding Officer to join our Social Investment Team where you will join a passionate, vibrant and friendly team and be part of ensuring our funding supports a wide variety of communities and places locally. This is a 18 Month Fixed Term Contract until September 2024.

You will have an opportunity to work on the Growth Fund, a blended (loan and grants) social investment programme, alongside external stakeholders, in the delivery of the programme. There is also the opportunity to work as part of the wider social investment team, enabling you to use your knowledge and experience, and the experience of our grant holders, internal and external stakeholders, to ensure we are making the best decisions on the grants we make. By working closely with people and communities, you will help ensure our funding can make a difference.

You will gain an understanding of our vision, our commitment to equity and inclusion and our funding programmes. You will be responsible for your own caseload; liaise with grant recipients, visit projects, identify and manage risks, supporting organisations to deliver their projects and measure their impact.

You will need to understand and respond to the different needs of our grant holders by providing advice and feedback and be willing to have challenging but constructive conversations.

You’ll also need to work within the Fund’s policies and procedures and the necessary legislation, and in a way that is in line with our vision and principles.

You will represent the Fund at external meetings and create opportunities for people to come together. You will share learning from your conversations with internal and external stakeholders, as well as working with our evaluators so that we can maximise our impact as a grant maker.

You’ll be part of a team, led by a Funding Manager, and comprised of several other Funding Officers.

The team is predominately based out of Newcastle, therefore the successful applicant will be expected to travel to Newcastle when required.

**Essential criteria**

**Y**ou will have**:

- Communication skills: Strong listening, written and verbal communications skills, with an emphasis on report writing, to produce concise recommendations for senior stakeholders, within required timescales.
- Analytical skills: Ability to absorb a wide range of information.Make good judgements and manage risk.
- Relational skills: Ability to nurture, develop and promote effective relationships and communication with colleagues, community organisations and other external agencies at varying levels, with a strong commitment to equity and inclusion.
- Flexibility: A “can do” approach, with the ability to adapt quickly and decisively.Fully committing to new processes and systems, with the confidence to use your judgement, take initiative and challenge when appropriate.

**Desirable criteria**
- Knowledge and understanding of the VCSE and social investment sector in England.Experience of working with under-represented communities is particularly desirable.
- Understanding of financial planning and ability to analyse accounts and numerical data.
- Demonstrable sound IT skills, in particular Microsoft Office products and the ability to learn detailed processes quickly and accurately.
- An ability to successfully prioritise and manage your own workload and time, meet deadlines with mínimal supervision.
