**Nutritional Assistant (20 or 30 hours available)**

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Nutritional Assistant who is truly passionate about ensuring our residents in Oakridge Care Home, Ballynahinch have the best standards for their home.

Oakridge Care Home is a 65 bedded home specialising in frail elderly, residential and dementia care.

**The role**

Working as part of our fantastic multi-disciplinary team, your main role will be to undertake a range of tasks within the kitchen and around mealtimes to provide a high standard of care to meet needs of residents and ensure residents receive adequate nutrition.

Your main duties will include:

- Assist the kitchen staff to maintain an efficient day-to-day service.
- To assist with the setting of dining room tables ensuring a high standard of cleanliness is maintained in the dining rooms.
- To ensure Menus are on daily display in each dining rooms.
- Assist with the preparation and delivery of food trollies and trays, the removal of foods and utensils after meals, in a manner which reflects the home’s philosophy of respect of the patient.
- To assist with provision of snacks and set up of tea trolleys including serving of tea and coffee ensuring knowledge of likes, dislikes and allergies.
- To ensure food trollies are kept clean and ensure all dishes are removed and placed for cleaning.
- To assist patients with nutritional intake by feeding as directed by the Nurse-in-Charge.
- To be aware of the IDDSI Framework and ensure any food, fluids served are of the correct consistency.

This role may develop, with suitable training, to include assisting residents with meals. In this case, the post would be considered ‘regulated activity’ and as such, the post holder would be required to undertake a barred list check and become registered with the Northern Ireland Social Care Council.

**What we need from you**

It is essential that you are eligible to live and work in the UK and you are medically fit to carry out this role. You must have previous kitchen or care experience, preferably with care of the elderly and therefore have some understanding of the nutritional needs of the elderly.
