**So, what might a typical week in the life of a Grants Officer look like?**
Sitting within the Community Welfare Service team, this role reports directly to the Business Development Director. The Grants Officer works closely with our regional Development Managers supporting the sustainability of charitable activity at the heart of former coal mining communities. This is a small, dedicated team, where collaboration is key to achieving goals.
As Grants Officer you will get involved in meaningful work that offers opportunities for learning and growth while making a tangible difference.
**Monday**:
- Research and assess new funding opportunities.
- Arrange meetings with independent charity trustees.
- Attend an online grant writing workshop or advise session.
**Tuesday**:
- Travel to a miners’ welfare for funding discussions.
- Respond to potential funders.
**Wednesday**:
- Attend a team meeting to discuss projects and goals.
- Meet online with clients and their partners to refine proposals.
**Thursday**:
- Review a grant proposal and provide improvement recommendations.
- Conduct a site visit to monitor project progress.
- Assist in monitoring and evaluation planning for a successful grant award.
**Friday**:
- Conduct a funder and compliance assessment.
- Support a trustee in submitting an online funding bid.
- Update the team on progress and plan for deadlines.
- Organise tasks for the following week.
**The Role**

- Guidance development: Provide clear guidance for stakeholders.
- Relationship building: Maintain strong relationships with funders.

- Performance monitoring: Keep accurate records to showcase project impact.

- Major funders: Worked with funders like Heritage Lottery, Sport England, National Lottery, and others.
- Opportunity assessment: Ability to evaluate and target suitable funding opportunities.
- Communication excellence: Clear, engaging written and verbal communication skills.
