Tetra Tech Europe have an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Consultant to join our Environment business. The role is required to support with the continued growth of the team and the wider business. We are looking for talented and motivated individual who wants to progress their career with a growing global consultancy, working on challenging, often ground-breaking projects. Due to our flexible working approach this role can be based anywhere in the UK.

We have a considerable pipeline of work leading into 2023 working across a number of sectors including residential, defence, infrastructure, energy and waste and minerals sectors. You will be joining a small EIA team with an opportunity to engage and learn from a vast range of teams across our environmental, planning and management departments. Whilst you will be expected to support and manage a range of EIA projects within a consultancy environment, the role will also provide the chance to broaden skills and experience within climate change and sustainability strategies, social and human health assessments as well as project management. The role would offer an opportunity to influence and have an impact across the business, providing diversity and learning experiences and the opportunity for swift career progression.

Our EIA team has an established workload and excellent reputation, with high standards demonstrated through membership of IEMA’s EIA Quality Mark scheme.

The main duties and responsibilities of the EIA Consultant will include:

- Provide support/undertake EIA Co-ordination and management of EIA and similar projects
- Produce of EIA documents including, EIA Screening, EIA Scoping and Environmental Statements
- Prepare / support with the production of technical EIA and/or standalone assessments including climate change, socio-economic and human health assessments
- Coordinate the delivery of environmental work being undertaken by multi-disciplinary teams (including internal and external specialists) across a range of projects
- Manage your time effectively and competently undertake your own work to an excellent standard, and review the work of others to maintain our performance on technical, quality, commercial, and health and safety
- Proactively manage projects, with responsibility for resourcing, financial allocations quality assurance
- Support and contribute to tender proposal/ bids
- Providing environmental advice and support to clients, project managers and colleagues
- Engaging with consultees and stakeholders

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Reporting to the national EIA Team Leader.
- Supportive of Tetra Tech’s vision for growth and implementation of corporate strategies and procedures.
- Providing professional advice and support across the business.
- Clear, confident and professional written and verbal communication with clients and other stakeholders.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
Membership of a relevant professional institution such Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment, Institution of Environmental Sciences would be advantageous.

Essential
- Prior EIA project management experience;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to communicate on appropriate technical and commercial levels internally and to a diverse range of current and potential clients in a highly professional manner.
- Excellent team working and project management skills.
- Experience of working in teams and independently with a proactive approach to progressing schemes.
- Eye for detail to assist in report reviews.
- Good IT skills including MS Word and Excel.
- Full driving licence.
- Relevant degree as a minimum.

Desirable
- Experience of writing sustainability, climate, health and/or socio-economic assessments;
- Experience of Strategic Environmental Assessment or Sustainability Appraisals;
- Additional specialist skills and experience e.g. in ecology, air quality, noise or archaeology
- Member of a relevant professional body or working towards it
- Postgraduate degree
