Health Advisor Assistant

The Assistant Health Advisor will work as an active member of the multi-disciplinary team and have responsibility for their own practice and behaviour. They will be allocated their own caseload of patients by the registered nurse and will be expected to work independently, holistically assessing patients’ needs, planning and prioritising their workload and implementing evidence based care, evaluating the outcomes of care under the mínimal supervision of the registered nurse.
The Assistant Health Advisor will make informed judgements of individual patients in order to manage and support them acting within their own level of competency to undertake specific interventions and treatments seeking advice and supervision when necessary. Ensuring appropriate consent is gained. They will act as an advocate communicating with all professionals along the patient’s pathway. They will act to ensure patient safety at all times and hold self to account for decisions, actions and omissions in patient care. They will record in care plans and assessments and evaluate entries that are appropriate to the patient under the supervision of the registered nurse
The Assistant Health Advisor will provide advanced support to the registered nurse and will work within defined competencies and treatment plans for patients creating a safe, caring environment that provides privacy, dignity and respect for the patient.
The post holder will be expected to develop knowledge and skills within the specialty and will assist in the management and development of compassionate, high quality patient care.
The post holder will support and supervise trainee nursing assistants, senior nursing assistants and support the training and assessment of student nurses and volunteers.
Demonstrates the Trust Values and Behaviours and the Trust Code of Conduct and the nursing and midwifery 6C’s at all times acting in the best interests of patients and treating everyone with dignity and respect. Support and help drive the quality improvement agenda and change within the working area.

Leadership and Improvement Training
South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust offers leadership and improvement training to all new staff to the Trust; this training programme has been designed to support our leaders in developing their understanding of leadership and management skills. You will be expected to attend the New and Aspiring leaders programme, and the Foundation Quality Improvement Programme that the Trust delivers. After you complete this one and a half day of training you will be able to explore further leadership and improvement training opportunities, we offer further in-house courses and bitesize programmes and leadership apprenticeships at level 3,5 and 7.
