**Early Years Practitioner**

**Location**: Midlothian

**Contract**: Full-time, 3 month contract that may potentially be extended to 6 months

**Salary**: £15.43p/h PAYE + holiday pay & pension

21 HSC are looking to recruit an Early Years Practitioner for a Family Learning Centre based in Midlothian. It is a full-time role working 35 hours per week Monday to Friday.

The Purpose of the job is to provide a care and support for children 0-5 years old that meets their individual needs, including acting as key worker for children. You will work as part of a team responsible for developing life skills in children, contribute to the planning and implementation of a balanced curriculum for children. Provide a caring and stimulating learning environment to enable children to develop and achieve.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Provide a service compatible with GIRFEC practice and within the policies and procedures of Children’s Services.
- Contribute to the activities of the centre and support the delivery of planned learning activities through active involvement to stimulate children’s interests, aptitudes, and abilities.
- Work as one of the team to establish good and effective relationships with children, parents/carers, and other staff.
- As one of the team, participate in staff meetings, to ensure good team/service user communications, and the smooth running of the service.
- Encourage children’s development and language through stimulating play and personal intervention.
- Engage with parents and carers to share information on children’s development and make collaborative plans to support learning in the centre and at home.

**Qualifications and Experience**:

- It is essential to possess a SVQ 3 in Health & Social Care (Children & Young People), HNC in Childhood Practice or equivalent qualification.
- It is essential to have experience working within children’s services.
