Day Care Workers needed in the Taunton area.
Job Purpose
To assist in the delivery of a stable and effective programme by the efficient delivery of the day-to-day service; within set budgets and to the agreed levels of quality as defined within the Langley House Trust Business Plan, Quality Assurance Strategy andKey Performance Indicators and in particular to support Clients to achieve the outcomes laid out in their Care/Support Plan. To ensure that the security of the project and its surroundings is maintained
Key Responsibilities
1. Keywork: To key work and support clients generally within your project, and to act as the Key Worker to designated clients as and when required.
2. Personal Care: To provide personal care to identified clients. To write Care Plans for clients and to implement a Care Plan. To keep health related records for clients as necessary. To meet with health and social service professionals. Specific duties willinclude but are not limited to;
- Washing, bathing and showering
- Use of bath aids
- Assisting the clients to shave
- Mouth care
- Assisting the client to dress and undress
- Eye care
- Catheter/urosheath care
- Assistance with emptying commodes
- Assisting with toilet care
- Emptying of colostomy bag
- Management of incontinence
- Exercising as appropriate to clients abilities
- Moving and handling
- Assistance in getting in and out of bed
3.Risk management: To take an active role in the assessment and management of risk including the operation of physical and situational security measures to control the level of risk posed to the public, staff and other clients and liaising with other stakeholdersas appropriate.
4.Managing Challenging Behaviour: To maintain a clear and calm manner whilst managing client risk through assessment, planning, client knowledge and de-escalation as required.
5.Client file: To regularly fully utilise the Trust 'Client File' with designated clients to ensure that they are supported and empowered to achieve appropriate outcomes.
6.Support: To provide support and guidance to other Support Workers to assist them in the safe delivery of the service and to support client engagement.
7.Medication: To ensure that all medication within the project is managed in line with Trust policy and procedures.
8.Participation: To ensure that clients are able to participate as fully as possible in the life of the project.
9.Client meetings: To manage client meetings and facilitate the Client Inclusion and Training representatives so that they are equipped to reflect the views of other clients at meetings.
10. Advice and training: To provide other staff and clients with relevant advice, support and training.
11. Involvement: To promote and support client involvement, manage complaints and seek resolutions.
12.Discipline: To supervise and monitor the behaviour of clients and to ensure that clients comply with any statutory order, tenancy or house rules and to report deviations to your line manager.
13.Team meetings: To take an active part in team meetings, ensuring that the team is fully briefed in relation to risk factors, changes in client behaviour and de-briefed following any incident.
14.Referral process: To assist in the management of the referral process within the project to achieve agreed occupancy levels.
15. Support: To ensure that both prospective and former residents are supported through visits and/or correspondence.
17. Food: To ensure that the client is offered food according to their dietary need and has access to food and drink 24/7. To prepare food as required.
18. Rooms: You may be required to prepare a room for the arrival of a new client. You will need to keep communal areas and office space safe and tidy eg bins emptied.
19. Rotas: To take a full part in the project rota.
Applicants with no support work experience will be considered as long as they have the right attitude.
