Join our dedicated team as a Placement Officer in Children Services for a local authority This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the well-being of children in the community and to make a positive impact on their lives.This temporary position offers a competitive rate of £16.63 per hour for a rewarding 3-month temporary contract.
**Responsibilities**:
- Collaborate with social workers and case managers to assess the needs of children in the care system.
- Source and evaluate potential foster homes, group homes, and other placement options for children in need of care.
- Conduct thorough background checks and assessments of prospective caregivers to ensure a safe and nurturing environment.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of available placements, ensuring timely and appropriate matches for children.
- Facilitate communication between child welfare agencies, caregivers, and other stakeholders to ensure the well-being of children in placements.
- Provide ongoing support and resources to caregivers, addressing any concerns or challenges they may encounter.
- Collaborate with legal teams to ensure all placement processes comply with relevant regulations and guidelines.
- Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and training sessions to enhance placement practices and stay informed about industry developments.
- Monitor and evaluate the success of placements, intervening when necessary to address any issues affecting the child's welfare.
- Advocate for the best interests of children, striving to create stable and nurturing environments that promote their overall development.
**Qualifications and experience**:
- Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or a related field.
- Previous experience in child welfare, adoption, or foster care services.
- Strong knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and best practices in child placement.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to assess and match the needs of children with appropriate placement options.
- Detail-oriented with strong organisational and documentation skills.
- Compassion and sensitivity when working with children and families.
- Proficient in using relevant technology and databases for record-keeping.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to the well-being and rights of children in the child welfare system.
