The post is site based, but you may be required to work at any Trust property and therefore are required to hold a full driving licence or be able to travel.

The role will involve routine maintenance, installation and repair work on a wide range of electrical engineering systems. These include Electrical distribution, power and lighting, standby generator plant, catering equipment, electrical lifting aids and beds, Nurse call systems and building management (third party accredited courses and training provided).

You will have suitable relevant maintenance experience (previous NHS experience would be an advantage) and be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation and Safe Working Practices.

You will have successfully completed a recognised Electrical craft apprenticeship (NVQIII) or equivalent.

As well as their core specialist skill, an Electrical Craftsperson will perform work including activities which are complex and/or non-routine.
- Installs, maintains, services and repairs full range of Estates services equipment
- Provides technical advice to other Estates Maintenance staff and contractors to ensure compliance with safety standards and procedures
- Undertakes condition surveys and evaluates inspection reports

Responsible for calibration, fault finding and repair on a wide range of engineering plant and equipment. Example; Standby generators, 3 phase and single phase electrical circuits, Heating systems, Ventilation systems (including Theatre vent) and all other associated hospital plant and equipment.

The purpose of the Specialist Craftsperson (Electrical) is to manage a variety of engineering and environmental duties, to carry out the repair, maintenance or installation of all plant, equipment, systems and building structure/fabric associated with all Trust properties. This will consist of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), testing and calibration, fault finding, emergency response, defect correction and minor works: this would include testing and fault-finding on engineering plant and equipment, electrical distribution, power and lighting, standby generator plant, catering equipment, electrical lifting aids and beds, Nurse call systems and building management system in accordance with relevant legislative standards and operational procedures to ensure the integrity of engineering services and infrastructure of the hospital and to provide a safe environment for patients, public and staff.
