**About us**

**The role**

Clinical informaticians will have a background in medicine and informatics. They need to be familiar with EHR data and be able to assist in designing and implementing informatics-based improvement projects as part of the data pipeline improvement and maintenance work. They require a medical degree in order to appropriately map clinical concepts between hospitals and to our common data model as well as to design automated data quality tests and review and approve resulting outputs. They will work closely with engineering and RWD team as part of the data pipeline product team. Depending on experience, they may also be involved in any omic informatics projects going forward.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Working with the RWD and engineering teams on maintaining and improving the data pipeline
- Participating in the management and improvement of our common data mode
- Participating in designing and implementing an improvement plan for mapping laboratory tests, medications etc., between hospitals using recognised ontologies such as BNF
- Using clinical knowledge to participate in designing, implementing and maintaining an automated data quality review process and reviewing and signing off on resulting data quality report
- Assisting with clinical informatics activities related to adding new data types and sources, e.g., omic data and new hospitals, to the database

**Requirements**:

- Medical and informatics degree or equivalent
- Familiarity with medical ontologies, including those commonly used in the NHS, e.g., ICD-10, OPCS-4 etc
- The ability to code in SQL, and the ability to code in Python and/or R is also desirable but not essential.
- Ideally, previous experience working clinically in the NHS.
- Experience working on informatics projects or in epidemiological research using Electronic Health Record (EHR) data.
