The Bread and Butter Thing (“TBBT”) is an innovative and fast-growing charity. We run mobile food clubs in community locations across the North West and the North East of England. Every week we provide food to more than 6,000 families who have access to low-cost healthy food because of our work.
The role will involve driving growth and improvement in all areas of our service, externally working with our community partners and members and internally managing our team and processes to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operations.
As the Head of Region for TBBT, you’ll make things happen - setting standards, coming up with ideas, and finding fresh ways to make your team and region the best they can be.
A lot of this role will be focussed on implementing standards and ensuring they are maintained throughout our community offer and within our warehouse operations. A well organised, self-starting individual would relish this opportunity
We are looking for the right person with the right attitude who can rise to the challenge in a fast paced, agile environment.
Positive, hands on, and eager to bring your own ideas to the table, you will use your extensive operational, retail and customer service experience to continually develop the region. In this role you will be dealing with people from all walks of life, and it will be critical that you can be an ambassador for TBBT in all situations.
You’ll be the kind of person who is resilient, always ready to get stuck in and work alongside your team, keeping them motivated, engaged, and pulling together as one.
You will have well developed IT skills and be happy to expand these by using new technology and learning new ways of working. This will include using extensive Microsoft packages (including office, apps and reporting software).
You will be able to work flexibly - able to cover regional opening hours on a rota basis, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
**Outcomes and Accountabilities**
- Manage the delivery of our services in your region, establishing relationships with our community partners, suppliers and stakeholders and building and embedding our relationships with them.
- Keeping the senior team informed of performance in your area and ensuring standards are maintained consistently.
- Guarantee the reliable delivery of healthy food to our members
- Build our community hubs to bring in wraparound support for our members
- Grow our impact in the region increasing the support we can give our members and community partners
- Ensure smooth running of the warehouse
- Effective management of resources
- Carry out effective team and volunteer recruitment, induction, training, and management
- Effective management of the regional facilities and fleet
- Manage the compliance requirements of TBBT including Food Safety and Health & Safety
- Ensure the success of your region fits into the bigger picture of TBBT’s purpose
- Effective and motivating performance management of staff
**Skills and Experience**
We’re looking for:
- Food Retail management experience
- Experience in leading and developing lean and successful teams
- Experience in improving business performance, reporting and forecasting
- Entrepreneurship and ownership with the ability to think creatively and make good operationally sound decisions as a result
- Experience of successfully implementing change within an organisation
- Project Management experience
- Demonstrable experience in successfully managing conflicting priorities
- Full manual driving licence
- Ability to react quickly and positively to changing priorities
- Ability to travel across the UK including overnight stays
- Strong problem-solving skills with a positive can-do attitude
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Political Awareness
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
**Salary**: £40,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
