This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to be part of the development of a world class science facility delivering infrastructure critical to pharmaceutical, animal health and life science in the UK.

You will be part of the **pre-construction stage** of research facilities. It is planned that the new build will occupy the same site and, as a result, this major redevelopment has the added complication of a complex construction process andthe need to keep the science open and on track whilst making the transition. As the mechanical representative of a government agency, your role will heavily involve dealing with third-party contractors (client-side), assessing and approving designs/drawings.

As a Remote Senior Mechanical Design Engineer you will:

- Have strong experience with Design & Assurance
- Reviewing fabric and engineering condition surveys reports to assess potential projects for refurbishment of laboratories
- Appraising relevant design standards for containment laboratories (assisting)
- Involvement and stakeholder management at meetings related to the topics above.
- Present designs for peer and stakeholder review.
- Ensure all engineering design and installation work is carried out safely and in accordance with required codes of practice.
- Sitewide energy utilisation studies and energy performance / determination for facilities on the site.
- Central thermal energy report development.
- Sustainability strategy development (assisting)
- Produce technical reports and safety assessments.

We are looking for a Remote Senior Mechanical Design Engineer who has the following skills and experiences:

- Mechanical Engineering/Building Services Degree or HNC/HND Mechanical Engineering or Building Services City & Guilds Full Tech Certificate.
- Experienced in building services design
- Ability to communicate verbal and written, report writing and computer literate.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering technical drawings and BIM digital systems.
- Can demonstrate good man-management, leadership & person skills.
- Extensive knowledge of the design and maintenance of building services in large complex buildings.
- Knowledge gained through the route of craft/technician and engineering management and up to Graduate Education level.
- **Desirable -**Previous experience of process, laboratory or health sector that includes containment levels (CL3) or clean rooms.

Please note, you can be living anywhere in the country for this Remote Senior Mechanical Design Engineer role, providing you are able to occasionally travel to Surrey.
