Tree Planter
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our Grounds Maintenance team and deliver tree planting on Council sites.
The role will include planting 600 large trees on Council owned public open space in towns across the South Hams. As well as careful planting, the individual will be responsible for maintenance of the trees for the first few years following planting, including regular visits to check stakes and ties, undertake weeding, and above all to water the trees.
The success of the tree planting depends on the level of care and attention given to the newly planted trees, so we are looking for someone who will take pride in their work, and take responsibility for the health of the trees.
Experience in horticulture/forestry/gardening/grounds maintenance is desirable although training will be giving with respect to the desired approach to tree planting and maintenance.
The job will include manual tasks of a physically demanding nature, which will require a reasonable standard of physical fitness.
A full UK driving licence is essential, the role will include driving on a daily basis across the South Hams, and operation of basic equipment (including a gravity fed bowser, and water standpipe).
