**Welding Inspector**

**Welding Inspector**:
Welding Inspector is responsible for leading the delivery inspections and reviews of UK Fabrication to ensure high levels of performance and mínimal ND

**Key Activities**:

- Review Quality Plans, FUD’s Inspection and Test Plans and supporting QA & NDT documentation
- Interpretation of the intent and ensuring the requirements of codes, standards and specifications are met.
- Liaise with QA Manager, QC-Lead and Project Leads in relation to submission of documentation and QA requirements for projects / maintenance
- Witnessing of welder and procedure approval tests, plus the witnessing the preparation of test plates and destructive tests and verifying compliance with appropriate standards and specifications.
- Ensuring that a procedure is available, has been approved and is being employed in production.
- Verifying that adequate and valid welder approvals are available, and that only approved welders are used in production.
- Verification of correctness of welding consumables (electrodes, filler wires, consumable inserts, gases, fluxes etc.)
- Pre-weld inspection, Verify that dimensions, fit-up and weld preparations are in accordance with specifications.
- Verification that any required preheat is in accordance with the specified procedure.
- Surveillance during welding to verify compliance with specified procedures including any preheat, interpass temperature control and post heat requirements.
- When Post-weld heat treatment is required ensure PWHT is completed in accordance with specification requirements.
- Post-weld visual inspection and dimensional checks of completed weldment against specification requirements and drawings.
- Co-ordinate and advise guidance on welding, NDT and other quality requirements
- Carry out inspections and examinations delivering quality auditing and control of activities.
- Report inspection findings and non-conformances in line with project plans and reporting requirements.
- Raise Continuous Improvement Forms (CIFs) as appropriate and liaise with Client’s QA/QC departments
- Ensure all quality documentation/records are maintained within the Company’s Combined Management System (CMS)
- Ensure quality performance monitoring is maintained and reviewed accordingly against KPIs
- Contribute to the improvement and technical capabilities of the Company
- Support existing, strong workshop HSE Culture

**Experience**:

- Good Engineering and QA/QC background for Nuclear fabrication
- Understanding of fabrication, welding and NDT techniques
- Radiographic interpretation
- Knowledge and familiarity with KPIs and performance monitoring techniques
- Understanding of and familiarity with pipe standards and specifications
- Development of project QA documentation (Quality Plans, ITPs etc.) and review of supplier QA documentation
- Computer literate; knowledge of Microsoft Office suite essential
- Good communication and report writing skills

**Qualifications**:

- CSWIP Level 3.2 Senior Welding Inspector
- PCN level 2 - Radiographic Interpretation
- Recognised Internal Auditor qualification
- ONC/HNC Mechanical Engineering/BTEC/City & Guilds or equivalent experience
